Tips
Learn German with movies, music and TV
Turn screen time into study time. How to use German films, series, YouTube and songs to boost your listening — even as a beginner.
Real German content trains your ear in a way textbooks can't. The key is choosing the right material for your level and using it the right way.
Start at the right level
- Beginner: children's shows, slow-German podcasts, simple songs.
- Intermediate: series you already know, dubbed into German.
- Advanced: news, talk shows and films without subtitles.
How to actually learn from it
- Watch once for the gist, then again for detail.
- Use German subtitles, not your native language.
- Note 3–5 new words per episode — not fifty.
Ich sehe gern FilmeI like watching films
Ich höre deutsche MusikI listen to German music
Pair this with daily vocabulary practice and your listening will improve faster than you'd expect.
